Have you ever heard the saying, “If you like what someone has, figure out what they did to get there.” And how many of us know of Oprah Winfrey? (Everyone) She preaches the value of gratitude and how it got her to where she is today. Interesting right. It got her through disappointments, past abuses, horrible encounters and unfortunate events. 

Gratitude can help us all make peace with what we can not change and change what we can. 

It teaches us to accept seasons because into each life some rain must fall. 

It also becomes the main factor for attracting abundance.

Gratitude is one of those things that has nothing to do with your feelings because it’s a directional energy. It’s a tool you can use to shift your perspective from negative to positive. You don’t need to feel gratitude to express it but the more you say (or write) it the more grateful you will feel.

 The idea behind the BEAUTIFUL SOUL Challenge grew from an understanding that good things come from an attitude of gratitude. And what better way to create healthy habits then to start being grateful for what we already have. Gratefulness is both the seed & the catalyst.

If you’re not happy with your body then… be grateful for the way you dance, your imagination or another talent.

If you’re not proud of past decisions then… be grateful for the lessons you learned & move on.

If you’re not feeling loved then… be grateful for your ability to love and love your self.

The Goal is to focus on the positive which will shift your perception. 

Eventually, by healthy association, you will attract abundance and adopt habits to support your new lifestyle. So pick one, just one healthy habit, schedule it into your planner and practice it daily.

Beautiful Soul – Day 12

   I’m sure you’ve seen a boat load of fitness challenges for the body but what about the Soul? We don’t think of the Soul with the same respect as biceps or abs but isn’t it just as special? Perhaps even more important then the body since it’s eturnal. By eturnal I’m referring to the idea that the soul is bound to a body for a certain amount of time but it’s capacity can’t be calculated or measured. (Eturnal.)

Over the course of twenty one days you’ll see gratitude prompts that you can answer in the comment box or in your journal. Brace yourself because it won’t be easy but it will be beneficial in the long run. You should prepare yourself by…

  1. Setting aside the same fifteen (15) minutes every day until you’ve completed the task.
  2. Making or buying a journal that you can dedicate for the coming weeks.
  3. Enjoying the process and join the community. Every soul is important.

Never doubt the power of Gratitude and the best time to use it is when you feel least likely to smile.

The people that matter the most still need time with you. Try not to get too busy that you miss what’s important…

If you’re a parent of teens they still require your time. Maybe not in the same fashion as when they were five. Also, hearing words of love and adoration helps.

Bottom line – make your VALUE of them audible, let them hear you,

Don’t get too busy to tell the ones who matter most why you’re grateful for them.

   Miracles motivate. The end.

Well maybe not. More of a, “In the beginning.” Miracles are still happening but we’ve become glued to our devices. Here’s five ways to spot miracles…

  3. When you look up & out.
  4. When you breathe deep.
  5. When you walk in unwavering faith & hope.

Beautiful Soul – Day 7

 

Have you heard of Randy & Jai Pausch? He wrote a book from a speech he created called THE LAST LECTURE and was married to Jai. I came across his TED talk and an interview with Oprah years ago. His love for his Ohana (family) and life was evident. Through his lecture I saw and felt gratitude but what made his presentation so touching  was the fact that it was truly his last yet he was so young.

He knew he was dying from pancreatic cancer but managed to inspire countless others. His last breath was used to teach the world about living your dreams but some how he managed to teach me gratitude. Below is one of his sayings and I’ve included a link on TED Talk or you can watch the YouTube video below. 

We are eternally grateful for his insight & perception. I hope you will support his legacy & purchase his book. The title of his speech is Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.

However… in my opinion I am even more amazed by Jai, his wife. She inspires me beyond her husband because she carried on. πŸ’› Which takes courage and strength. She’s also written a book for caregivers and I hope you will add it to your collection.

Beautiful Soul – Day 6

   Here’s the realist (had to add that) you can not obtain significant & positive change unless you connect with gratitude. How many of us have seen or heard stories of people who tried a challenge, loss all the weight just to gain it back again? It’s happen to me so I don’t have to look far for an example.

The cycle was: Join a challenge, get supplements, eat clean, burn calories and loose weight. But after a year or so those inches came back and I began to wear baggy clothes to cover up.

The trigger was a post-pregnancy or family emergency/drama that had me medicating with food. In the midst of it all I forgot to be grateful. I completely loss the drive to love myself. That’s when I began to create challenges that connect to the heart & soul like BEAUTIFUL MIND which changed my life. 

Today I’m living happy & healthy and the weight is coming off.

Beautiful Soul – Day 5

   I told my children, “Don’t just tell me thank you show me that you’re thankful.” And their response was SILENCE. Then I had to share a few examples,  “It’s like taking care of your room & doing your chores without being told. That shows me how grateful you are.” [SILENCE, again] Finally I told them, “I love you” then hugged them. After that I asked them which love did you like, the word or the hug? They finally got it!! [Aha moment for a 7 & 9 year old.]

You can’t just say I’m grateful without showing it through a smile, gesture or posture. The insight into BEAUTIFUL SOUL is to live grateful.

I once heard an elderly man say that he was blessed with work. Who says that? No one I know personally, in fact they’re all trying to start a side hustle (business) so they don’t have to work anymore. But here he is grateful to work.

A powerful quote from Gandhi that gives so much perspective, will open up your mind to accept failure as a life skill. I’m sure many of you are familiar with the horrors of failing and connect it to shame. The shame of not being successful or not loosing the weight.

Stop and breathe for a moment.

Here’s a way to gain new perspective, write down a mistake you made then counter it with a lesson-learned or insight gained. Then cross out the mistake and rewrite the lesson-learned as a gratitude. I am grateful for ________.

Beautiful Body – Day 7 & 8

Think about the last place you shopped or ate at… Was it clean? The chances are that you would have walked out if there was rude Β service or a dirty environment. Your subconscious is drawn towards beauty, symmetry, organization and design. I say subconscious because most times you don’t even know that it’s happening.

Now think about your Β meals. When you look at your lunch does it make you happy? The term “Spark Joy” is from a book by Marie Knodo but it got me thinking about every aspect of life. Does my food spark joy?

I appreciate kawaii food styling and it might seem like too much extravagance but it does something for the mind. It makes one feel happy.
